She has a Master's Degree in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma, and a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee Oklahoma. She is past president of the Oklahoma Nurse Association, and is active in the American Nurses Association. She maintains a private practice in Oklahoma City of counseling, therapy, medication management and complementary modalities of hypnosis and aromatherapy. She has facilitated support groups for nurses recovering from substance abuse disorders for 15 years.
