BROOKLYN, NY, January 28, 2011 (Press-News.org) Brooklyn-based charter bus service Monsey Tours went the extra mile for a group of Los Angeles travelers stranded in New York during the area's recent blizzard. Motty, the Monsey Tours bus driver on the scene, provided lodging and beverages to his passengers when their flights home were unexpectedly canceled.
"At Monsey Tours, each of our drivers has years of experience on the road, which includes driving in inclement weather and dealing with the worst. But beyond experience, our charter bus service drivers have a reputation for surpassing the call of duty, whether that means showing tourists around an unfamiliar area or, in this case, finding lodging for passengers with nowhere else to go," said Chaim Lunger, CEO of the New York charter bus company.
Hitting its peak on Monday, December 27, the Blizzard of 2010 virtually shut down transportation throughout the tri-state area. Over 1400 flights were canceled, and many streets in and around New York City were closed for hours as plows struggled to clear the most crucial routes. Without help from their drivers, the Los Angeles Monsey Tours passengers would have been hard-pressed to find food and lodging.
"You guys were incredible. You went completely above and beyond anything expected or considered. If not for you, we would most likely still be on the bus. I have truly never met people so giving and caring to strangers," said Gillian Mellon, one of the Los Angeles passengers.
Despite the heavy snow, Motty was able to find lodging for his group by reaching out to individual families in the area. The charter bus service driver walked through the snow to bring back water and tea for his riders to drink.
"Words cannot express my gratitude for the actions of your driver on the busy night of the snow storm. He went completely out of his way and put himself in danger to get us water and tea. He called numerous people in order to find us homes to sleep in. He kept us warm, dry, and safe and for that I and my family are forever grateful," said Brae Marlin, another member of the Los Angeles group.
The Blizzard of 2010 is only one example of Monsey Tours' commitment to offering charter bus service in all kinds of weather, provided the driving conditions are safe. In the event that a charter trip must be canceled because of the weather, Monsey Tours offers company credit for every passenger.
"Monsey Tours is dedicated to staying on the road whenever possible. When there's a blizzard forecast on the horizon, our drivers take their busses home with them at night so they are better prepared to pick up passengers on schedule," Lunger said.
Monsey Tours offers charter bus service to and from locations throughout the United States and Canada, with last-minute booking available, in addition to weekend specials to all casinos in the northeast region. The company also operates Monsey Trails, a commuter service with New York trips connecting New Square, Monroe, Monsey, Brooklyn and Manhattan, as well as regular trips between Manhattan and Baltimore.
