Rezidor Announces Plans for the Park Inn London ExCeL

Rezidor Hotel Group announces plans to open the Park Inn London ExCeL in Q2 2013.

2011-01-29
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM, January 29, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest-growing hotel companies worldwide, has announced plans for the Park Inn London ExCeL. The brand-new property at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre in London is scheduled to open in Q2 2013.

"We are delighted to announce this new flagship in the key market of London. This property will further strengthen the presence and brand awareness of our young and dynamic mid market brand Park Inn in the UK," commented Kurt Ritter, president & CEO of Rezidor.

ExCeL is the largest event centre in London; it is spread over 100 acres and provides almost 100,000 square meters of space. Since the opening in 2000 at a cost of GBP300 million, it has hosted more than 3,500 events and welcomed five million visitors. ExCeL, owned by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), has recently completed a GBP160m extension and became the largest exhibition venue in the UK. In November 2010, ExCeL London was officially voted the World's Best Meetings & Conference Centre, winning the coveted title at the World Travel Awards' Grand Final Gala.

The new Park Inn is the latest hotel in London planned by Rezidor Hotel Group and will be constructed by Galliford Try. The Park Inn London ExCeL will be located a mere 200 metres west of the main entrance, and, soaring 20 stories above the skyline, will soon emerge as a local landmark. Facilities will include 223 rooms (the majority offering uninterrupted views of the River Thames), a restaurant and bar, several meeting rooms, and a fitness room.

Besides its position near to ExCeL, the London city centre hotel is also strategically located in easy proximity to London City Airport (which has over 200 daily flights), the commercial centre of Canary Wharf, and the state-of-the-art O2 concert arena. Moreover, the nearby Royal Docks area is currently undergoing a GBP1.5 billion re-development, which will include new leisure and entertainment venues.

Research suggests HIV causes rapid aging in key infection-fighting cells

2011-01-28
In the early years of the AIDS epidemic, being infected with the virus that causes the disease was considered a virtual death sentence. But with the development of antiretroviral therapy, many with HIV are now living much longer. In fact, it is estimated that by 2015, about half of all HIV-positive individuals will be older than 50. And those in the younger age bracket — even those responding well to antiretroviral therapy — still exhibit illnesses and clinical conditions commonly associated ...

Mark Batzer, LSU System Boyd Professor and Dr. Mary Lou Applewhite Distinguished Professor of Biological Sciences, and an international consortium of ...
