When people perceive themselves to be accountable for goals and tasks they work to gain clarity on what is expected. Accountability results in higher performing teams and also in people that feel that they are more in control and less like they are being micro-managed. Managers are freed up to accomplish more and no longer need to be the micro-manager or over controller.
