Host Christina Pratt Talks about "Small Sacred Things" on Sept. 7 "Why Shamanism Now?" Radio Show

On her radio show "Why Shamanism Now?," teacher, author, and founder of the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing Christina Pratt explores the importance of feeding the sacred daily through small acts in order to nourish our souls.

2010-09-04
RHINEBECK, NY, September 04, 2010 (Press-News.org) Streaming live on the Co-Creator Radio Network on Tuesday, September 7, at 11 a.m. Pacific time/2 p.m. Eastern time, on her show "Why Shamanism Now?: A Practical Path to Authenticity," shaman and founder of the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing Christina Pratt says, "That which is sacred possesses within it The Mystery." Pratt explains that while what we find sacred in a religious sense varies, that which is sacred in life touches all of us equally. These everyday sacred things, acts, or moments are the things, acts, or moments that contain The Great Mystery, no matter how large or small, no matter your religious focus or lack of a spiritual life.

In this episode of "Why Shamanism Now?" titled "Small Sacred Things," Pratt explores the shamanic and Taoist teaching that we all need to tend the sacred to nourish our souls. According to Pratt, your soul is not a given; it is shaped by the choices you make in this life. Like all aspects of who you are, your soul needs nourishment. It needs exercise. It needs rest and restoration. To feed the sacred through small acts each day is to feed Spirit, which is to feed your spirit, which nourishes your soul. These are small ways of noticing and offering gratitude, yet each act connects us to that which abides. Pratt tells listeners that when we notice and honor the sacred, we turn our attention to the real energies. When we do this—right in the middle of a busy day, after sending the kids to school, or before we check out at night into the electronic media of choice—we are not lost in the infinite distractions of the day. We can step back from our state of perpetual overwhelm and step into the calm in the eye of the storm of our lives.

Christina Pratt is an authentic, non-traditional contemporary shaman. In practice since 1990, she specializes in mending the soul and transforming the parts of life that feel impossible. A teacher of exceptional clarity, humor, and inspiration, Pratt brings the power of shamanism into the practical grasp of anyone willing to take responsibility for improving the quality of their life. Her well-received book, An Encyclopedia of Shamanism (Rosen), is an 800-page, two-volume set with over 750 in-depth entries that clearly discuss the basic concepts of shamanism, methods, and traditions of over 50 different shamanic peoples. Pratt is the founder of the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing in Portland, OR, and New York, NY, creator of the original Foundations of Shamanism and Shamanic Healing course at the University of Minnesota, and a frequent and honored speaker for the American Holistic Medical Association.
