At the age of 20, Jess discovered she had pre-cancerous cells in her breast and underwent a lumpectomy. During recovery, she utilized yoga and meditation techniques as an alternate form of therapy. Her deep understanding of the body-mind connection provided the foundation for her spiritual journey.

This life altering experience inspired Jess to study various forms of therapeutic yoga and she became certified as a Professional Yoga Therapist for HIV, Cancer and Multiple Sclerosis patients. Prenatal certification came shortly after, when Jess became pregnant with her daughter. After the filming of South Beach Prenatal Yoga, Jess was once again diagnosed with Cancer and even when dealing with the effects of the disease, Jess continues to practice yoga on a daily basis. She strongly believes in the importance of touching people's lives and views her intense, meaningful work as her own path to wellness.
