Another Five Star Review For Fantasy Author R.T. Kaelin

The latest review for masterful storyteller R.T. Kaelin's fantasy novel, Progeny, draws comparisons to J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia.

2011-02-02
PICKERINGTON, OH, February 02, 2011 (Press-News.org) A new, international review for Progeny, the first entry in The Children of the White Lions high fantasy series was recently published by Clover Hill Book Reviews. The excerpts are heavy in their praise while the comparisons to other best-selling high fantasy series are stunning.

"This novel is a fantasy about family, legacies, strengths, coming of age and also magical powers..."the Strands." Anyone who enjoys adventure stories or magical and paranormal I would suggest you give this a try. For me, Progeny is in league with both The Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings and far better than Harry Potter - Progeny has a wealth of depth to it that I haven't seen in many books"

Discussing the masterful storytelling:
"Progeny has many layers of stories within its pages, and I found it totally awe inspiring as a read, with each character that is developed really coming to life and adding weight to the story telling."

About the sweeping, epic tale:
"For all of its 650+ pages, Progeny is the biggest book I've read for a while - however it is also substantial in content and storyline. I have enjoyed it immensely from start to finish and am really looking forward to whatever happens next - it is sure to be good after the high bar R.T. Kaelin has made with Progeny. A highly recommended read, this is a great story of epic proportions, I would love to see this as a film."

The complete review can be found at Clover Hill Book Reviews.

Interest in the book has been high for this small-press fantasy book, and R.T. Kaelin was very busy sharing it with readers throughout the first two months of release. There were nearly 2,300 entries for giveaway contests of only a handful of copies of Progeny during that time. The author has been touring high schools, talking with hundreds of students about creative writing and the power of the written word while sharing his love of reading and writing. A ten-day Authors Chat with R.T. Kaelin was held at LibraryThing.com where the reading community interacted directly with the author, asking him questions about his high fantasy book. Don McCauley, the host of The Authors Show, also interviewed R.T. Kaelin where the author spoke about his great fantasy book, Progeny. Listeners were able to hear what went into writing the epic fantasy story, where the ideas for his top selling book came from, and why the writings of certain bestselling fantasy authors like Raymond E. Feist, Christopher Paolini, and Robert Jordan inspired him to write.

Future events for the author include additional speaking appearance to discuss creative writing as well as a book reading and signing event at a local public library

Other early reviews for Progeny, the first book of The Children of the White Lions fantasy series and top fantasy novel by R.T. Kaelin, were just as effusive in their praise:

"When I picked up Progeny, I was soon swept up into a world so large, and a tale so relentless, that I could not put it down. The plot flows as strongly as a waterfall but manages to pace itself and keep the reader guessing. The disparate characters we meet along the way are intriguing and richly nuanced, reminding one of Tolkien's without being derivative. This is a big book and a big world, surprisingly well conceived for a first novel. Many books (not to mention movies and video games) could be spun from the magical foundational pattern R.T. Kaelin has woven in Progeny." - D. Kistner, Associate Editor at FutureCycle Press.

"I would favorably compare his writing with Brandon Sanderson, Scott Lynch, (early) Robert Jordan and even a bit of David Eddings flavor mixed in...I got caught up and wanted to know what happens next. Not to mention wanting to know more and more about the world I was immersed into...I really enjoyed this book and my biggest disappointment is going to be waiting for the next installment." - C. Shadis at LibraryThing.com.

Additional reviews are expected shortly from respected review sites such as FantasyBookReviews.com and BookFetish.org. A story appeared on the fantasy novel and author at http://www.bestfantasystories.com.

Terrene Press released R.T. Kaelin's debut fantasy novel, Progeny, to publication on December 1, 2010. Progeny is a 655-page fantasy novel that tells the story of two young siblings, a brother and sister, whose home is destroyed, friends and neighbors killed, and lives forever changed after a vicious attack on their village by a stranger. The event spurs the pair into a strange world where they discover their heritage has little to do with being the children of simple farmers. Swept up by myth and magic, they discover their destiny is much more than they could have ever imagined.

An ancient prophecy foretells the rise of a terrible evil that only the Progeny might be able to halt. First, brother and sister must survive in a world where magic is outlawed while still pursued by the person responsible for the destruction of their lives. Progeny offers the reader an escape into a world free of economic uncertainty, political back-and-forth and constant security threats, replacing them with a new set challenges and concerns.

R.T. Kaelin grew up in Cincinnati and now resides in Pickerington, Ohio with his wife and two children. For years, he worked in the information technology field in Columbus, but felt there was something more waiting for him. After investing the time and effort into writing his book, he queried literary agents across the country and quickly realized that the traditional method of publishing involved a high amount of luck. Reaching out using the Internet, he sought the advice of other authors and publishers. A publisher of poetry and flash fiction contacted him and pointed him to a woman who was involved in the initial effort surrounding the self-published edition of a book that was picked up by a national publishing house before going on to make the New York Times bestsellers list.

R.T Kaelin is available for book signings or interviews. If interested in receiving a copy of Progeny for review, please contact him at rtkaelin@terrene.info. The website for Progeny is at http://www.progenythebook.com, http://www.fantasyauthor.net, or http://www.greatfantasyauthor.com where the book is available for purchase along with other outlets like Amazon.com and BarnesAndNoble.com. The fantasy book can also be ordered at any bookstore.
