MADRID, SPAIN, February 09, 2011 (Press-News.org) The art of Jean-Leon Gerome will soon be on display at Madrid's Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza museum.
Running from February 15th to May 22nd 2011, the exhibition will be the first major monographic collection of his work for around 30 years.
The venue joined forces with the J Paul Getty Museum and the Musee d'Orsay to put together the installation of Gerome's art.
During 2010, the Los Angeles and Paris arts spaces showcased the collection and this month will see the Spanish capital take its turn.
Gerome was a 19th century painter and sculptor, who is most famous for pieces such as Prayer, Excursion of the Harem and Death of Marshal Ney.
There are 55 of his works in the exhibition and the organisers hope to highlight how the Frenchman used realism in his art and what effect this creates for the appreciator.
Admission to the exhibition costs EUR7 (GBP5.90), with tickets available to purchase online.
The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:00 and 19:00 local time.
