Valentine Vettriano at Red Rag Gallery, Stow on the Wold

Red Rag Gallery holds a selection of limited edition, romantically themed prints by Jack Vettriano, who captures the romance of Valentine in his distinctive style.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE, ENGLANDN, February 13, 2011

Valentine is a colourful kaleidoscope of mystery, suspense and emotion - excitement and love, even sometimes disappointment and regret. Vettriano is a master in holding such moments in his timeless paintings; paintings that hint at hidden stories of romance and love and have an enduring appeal to the heart.

Red Rag Gallery holds a selection of limited edition prints by Jack Vettriano, including romantically themed images such as Days of Wine and Roses, Only the Deepest Red II and Man of Mystery.

Carole Teagle, Gallery Manager at the Red Rag Gallery in Stow, commented,

'We are immensely pleased to be able to offer wonderful, romantically themed limited edition prints by Jack Vettriano at this special time of Valentine, as a complement to the events that will be taking place at the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews this weekend; they make an unusual and perfect Valentine gift!'.

Jack Vettriano will be making a personal appearance for a book-signing event at The Old Course Hotel in St Andrews on Saturday, 12 February. This is a free admission, non-ticketed event. On Friday, 11 February, Jack will be hosting a charity fund-raising dinner, also at The Old Course Hotel, when his painting Let's Twist Again will be auctioned.

Biographical note:
Born in Fife, Scotland in 1951, Jack Vettriano left school at sixteen to become a mining engineer. For his twenty-first birthday, a girlfriend gave him a set of watercolour paints and, from then on, he spent much of his spare time teaching himself to paint. In 1989, he submitted two paintings to the Royal Scottish Academy's annual exhibition; both were accepted and sold on the first day. The following year, an equally enthusiastic reaction greeted the three paintings he entered for the prestigious Summer Exhibition at London's Royal Academy.
Over the last twenty years, interest in Jack's work has grown consistently; and there have been sell-out solo exhibitions in Edinburgh, London, Hong Kong and New York. He was awarded an OBE for Services to the Visual Arts in 2004 and in the same year was the subject of a documentary for the South Bank Show ('Jack Vettriano: The People's Painter'). Since 2007, he has been focusing on a variety of private projects, including a portrait of Zara Phillips as part of a charity fund-raising project for Sport Relief (a documentary on this experience was broadcast on BBC1 in March 2008). Jack divides his time between his homes in Fife, London and Nice.
