Fanciful, Funny and Furry Pajamas Anything But Sleepy at Sleep Country's Annual Pajama Bowl Event for Foster Kids

Fundraiser Awakens the Community with Opportunity to Have Fun and Contribute to An Important Cause in Their Community

PORTLAND, OR, February 14, 2011

Whether your pajamas are striped or plaid, cozy or cool, footed or not, Sleep Country USA (www.sleepcountry.com), an employee-owned company and the number one bedding specialist in the Northwest, invites you to roll out of bed and join your community in the company's sixth annual Pajama Bowl for Foster Kids on Sunday, March 13th, 2011.

Putting the Fun in Fund Raiser

"We designed the event to be goofy and inviting while giving the community a way to give back to an important demographic that really needs our support," said Terry Horsley, vice president of brand strategy, Sleep Country USA. "One of the most unique fundraisers we know of, our Pajama Bowl event has been growing every year, adding more participants and increasing the cash we can donate to foster organizations to provide foster children the same opportunities our children enjoy."

Why I Like to Bowl in my PJ's

"Bowling in pajamas makes some folks feel like kids again, so they tell me," said Don Darland, President of Oregon Foster Parent Association. "And, OFPA uses the sponsorship money raised at Sleep Country's Pajama Bowl events to help the kids in Oregon's foster care program participate in extras that they might not normally have the opportunity to enjoy, such as summer camp, field trips, extracurricular activities, or emergency funds for special circumstances. This is especially important this year as foster parents and foster care organizations everywhere face budget cuts that will further reduce already stretched-thin resources meant to increase a foster child's ability to be successful in life. So, wake up and join us! We need your help, and you'll have a blast at this event!"

Let's Roll!

Interested individuals should form teams of five bowlers (family, friends, co-workers, neighbors - kids and adults) and register their team at http://www.pajamabowl.com. A minimum of $250 in sponsorship money per five-person team (only $50 per person) is required to participate, and each team will be able to designate the recipient foster organization in their area. Teams will have the opportunity to choose their bowling alley location and time, and those teams with the highest amount of sponsorship money raised will automatically be upgraded to the VIP lanes in their chosen alley. All of the action takes place at Big Al's in both Vancouver and Beaverton beginning at 11am.

Prizes for You Too!

Pajama Bowl teams are strongly encouraged to wear their favorite pair of family-friendly pajamas during the event. Each team will receive a score at the end of the event based upon their combined bowling score, amount donated over the $250 minimum, plus any additional points awarded for matching pajamas or winning a raffle. Each member of the team with the most points at the end of the event will take home the grand prize of a brand new Simmons Beautyrest mattress set, also known as the "Bowling Ball" mattress. Runner-up prizes will be award for second and third place. And, even if they don't place, participants will have a chance to win fun prizes throughout the event including cds, dvds, event tickets and more.

Where Do I Sign Up?!
