PHUKET, THAILAND, February 16, 2011 (Press-News.org) Phuket, Thailand: The Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket, one of Phuket's longest established hotels, is set to change its management from Starwood Hotels to the Banyan Tree's Angsana Hotels & Resorts brand.
Angsana Hotels & Resorts, a division of Singapore based Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, will take over operations of the hotel from 30th June this year.
The four hundred and nineteen-room hotel, located on Phuket's Bang Tao Beach, will be closed from 1st July 2011 for an extensive refurbishment, costing 500 million baht (US$16 million). Renovations will cover all public areas and guest rooms.
The hotel is scheduled to reopen as the Angsana Laguna Phuket on the 1st December 2011.
For the new operators Angsana Hotels & Resorts, this will be their first hotel in Phuket, Thailand, but the Banyan Tree Holdings subsidiary does operate a number of spa's on the Island, including; Angsana Spa at the Allamanda Hotel Laguna, Angsana Spa at the Dusit Thani Laguna, Angsana Spa at Laguna Beach Resort and Angsana Spa at the, soon to be rebranded, Sheraton Grande Laguna.
In fact, Angsana operate ten resorts, with over forty spas and forty retail galleries throughout the world. These include; Angsana Bangalore, India; Angsana Riads Collection, Morocco; and Angsana Fuxian Lake in China.
The Sheraton Grande Laguna has been operated by the Sheraton and Luxury Collection brands of Starwood Hotels since 1992.
Starwood Hotels is an owner, operator and franchisor of hotels and resorts under the brands; St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, Sheraton, Westin, Four Points by Sheraton, W, Le Meridien and the recently announced AloftSM and ElementSM.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts operates one thousand properties in one hundred countries across the world.
