Stockton Hood Sale Company Releases After Cleaning Checklist

APS-Hoods, a Stockton hood sale, installation and cleaning company, releases a checklist restaurant owners can use after their hood systems are professionally cleaned.

2011-02-17
PLACENTIA, CA, February 17, 2011 (Press-News.org) American Professional Services (APS-Hoods), a Placentia and Stockton hood sale company, has released information to educate restaurant owners/managers on items to check after their commercial kitchen hoods have been cleaned.

"This will help ensure the cleaning was thorough and performed properly," says, Massoud Farazandeh, CEO of APS-Hoods, a Stockton hood installation company.

- Look inside the hood in front of the filters and canopy area, and behind the filters. You should see clean, shiny metal.
- Check inside the track and in the plenum area. All grease buildup should be removed.
- Check the grease filter track to make sure it has been cleaned.
- Check the top of the filter rack to ensure all grease was removed.
- Inspect all red caps on the fire suppression nozzles to make sure they are in place.
- Look inside ductwork using a flashlight to see if all grease has been removed.
- Inspect areas on the rooftop, including fan blades that can get coated with grease.
- Look at the collection of grease around the fan to make sure all grease was disposed of properly.

Regarding the fire suppression equipment, keeping this grease-free and functioning is imperative, says Farazandeh, a Stockton hood cleaning expert. If grease has clogged the nozzles and the system needs to go off, it might hinder its ability to extinguish the fire.

"We also stress checking for grease collection around the rooftop fan, because this can interfere with roof integrity, eat into the membrane and lead to leaks," says the Stockton commercial hood installer. "Improper grease disposal can be another problem. The restaurant owner needs to ensure that proper drainage is in place so the grease can be disposed of properly."
