DURHAM, NC, February 17, 2011 (Press-News.org) BÖWE BELL + HOWELL's (BBH) Technical Communications Department has won an Excellence Award from the Carolina Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC). STC chapters award three levels of honors to entries in ascending level: Merit, Excellence and Distinguished. In the eight years BBH has participated in the competition, they have earned 26 awards, including an Excellence and Merit Award at the international level.
The stringent requirements rate entrants on content and organization, copyediting, visual design, and how well the technical communication met the end users' needs.
This year's award-winning entry was produced by Susan Varley, senior technical writer/illustrator at BBH's facility in Bethlehem, Pa.
"We are continuously raising the bar for documentation standards at BBH," said Lana Chandra, BBH executive director of Organizational Development and the BBH University. "The quality of these documents is critical for our customers, who depend on them for training and service. The award truly validates the thought, planning and effort that we put into each and every technical manual we produce."
