SEVILLE, SPAIN, February 24, 2011 (Press-News.org) Fans of filmmaker Jerzy Grotowski can see some of his work framed in an innovative way by heading to the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporaneo (CAAC) in Seville.
Running until March 20th 2011, the show sees two theatre recordings and one film projected on to a sculpture made by Andrea Blum.
Grotowski, who passed away in 1999, was famous for advancing experimental concepts such as the 'theatre laboratory' and 'poor theatre'.
The Polish director helped revolutionise the medium in the 1950s and 1960s, showing that elements such as costume and make-up need not be present for a production to be powerful.
Recorded stage versions of Akropolis and The Constant Prince will be on display at the CAAC, in addition to Teatr Laboratorium - a feature film.
Opening hours at the CAAC are from 11:00 to 21:00 local time from Tuesday to Saturday and 11:00 to 15:00 on Sunday. The venue is closed on Monday.
Admission to the exhibition costs EUR1.80 (GBP1.50), but visitors can tour the whole arts space for EUR3.01.
LateRooms.com lists a wide selection of accommodation in Seville that may be suitable for art enthusiasts heading to the exhibition, such as the Hotel Don Paco Seville.
