LateRooms.com - See The Reluctant Debutante During a Cotswold Stay

The Reluctant Debutante starring Jane Asher is heading to Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre.

2011-03-01
COTSWOLD, ENGLAND, March 01, 2011 (Press-News.org) Jane Asher stars in The Reluctant Debutante, a new version of William Douglas-Home's classic romantic comedy.

The production can be seen at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham from Monday March 21st to Saturday March 26th, when Asher will be joined on stage by Clive Francis and Belinda Lang.

Set during the 1950s, Douglas-Home's play takes a Noel Coward-esque look at the nuances of British society and the debutante scene.

Asher has described it as "a wonderfully ironic look at the curious customs in high society in the fifties".

She added: "It's a treat to be able to bring something as good as this back into theatres again."

The play follows society couple Jimmy and Sheila Broadbent as they attempt to find the perfect husband for their daughter Jane, who inevitably has other ideas.

Asher became famous due to her relationship with Paul McCartney during the 1960s, but has also enjoyed a successful career as an actress.

Her credits range from the recent revival of Alan Ayckbourne's Bedroom Farce to Holby City on BBC1 and the cult 1966 movie Alfie.

Tickets for The Reluctant Debutante are priced between GBP12 and GBP24. Evening shows begin at 19:45 or 20:00 GMT, while the matinee performances on March 24th and 26th will get underway at 14:00 and 14:30 respectively.
