GastroIntestinal Healthcare Announces Sponsorship of 2011 Health and Wellness Expo

First wellness event sponsored by Wake Forest newspaper to feature a variety of health experts and wellness presentations

2011-03-03
RALEIGH, NC, March 03, 2011 (Press-News.org) GastroIntestinal Healthcare is pleased to announce that it will serve as a Premium Sponsor of the 2011 Health & Wellness Expo sponsored by The Wake Forest Weekly. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 20th from 11:00am - 7:00pm at the Ledford Center Gymnasium (Southeastern Seminary Campus in Wake Forest). This is the first year for this event.

The Wake Weekly serves the greater Wake Forest, Wakefield, Rolesville, Stony Hill, Falls, Youngsville, and Franklinton communities. The paper is printed weekly with an average weekly circulation of 10,000. Publisher, Todd Allen, says that it's hard to believe that only a decade ago, Wake Forest was like many small, sleepy towns on the outskirts of a larger city. Today, the city has more than doubled in size to over 30,000 people, which doesn't include the growth in the surrounding areas of Rolesville, Wakefield, Youngsville, and Franklinton.

"With the tremendous growth in our area, it is actually hard to keep up with all that is available to folks in and around Wake Forest," says Allen. "We thought it was high time to highlight the health and wellness services and resources available to our communities, which is why we are excited to bring the first Health & Wellness Expo to Wake Forest and the surrounding communities."

Located on the outskirts of Wake Forest, just off Route 540, GastroIntestinal Healthcare has also noticed the continued growth of the area and appreciates opportunities like the Health & Wellness Expo to market themselves to nearby communities, as well as educate citizens on the importance of regular colon screenings and good digestive health. As part of its sponsorship, the practice will be presenting two health presentations at the Expo: "The Importance of Colon Screenings" at 5:30pm by Boris Cvetkovski, MD and "An Introduction to Irritable Bowel Syndrome" at 6:00pm by Robert Harper, MD. Both GastroIntestinal Healthcare physicians are certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, members of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastrointestinal Association, and have hospital affiliations with Duke Raleigh Hospital and Wake Med North.

GastroIntestinal Practice Administrator, Nancy Nicoll O'Neill, says that the practice is proud of its support of the 2011 Health & Wellness Expo and hopes to inform people about the importance of regular colon screenings through venues such as this. The practice is also a Bronze Sponsor of this year's Get Your Rear in Gear - Raleigh 5K Race, a multi-city event designed to promote colon cancer awareness and provide support for those affected.

Colon cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States," says O'Neill. "Regular colon screenings are the best way to prevent colorectal cancer. GastroIntestinal Healthcare is committed to using every medium possible to help spread this important message and to encourage both men and women, particularly those at age 50 or older, to begin a regular colon screening regiment."

GastroIntestinal Healthcare specializes in the diagnoses and treatment of gastrointestinal ailments and diseases including heartburn, acid reflux, IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), diarrhea, constipation, ulcers, Crohn's Disease and Colitis. The practice also provides colorectal cancer screenings. GastroIntestinal Healthcare offers the convenience of a state-of-the art, fully licensed and accredited on-site endoscopy facility located adjacent to their clinic office.

About GastroIntestinal Healthcare
GastroIntestinal Healthcare is dedicated to "improving your health from the inside out". The practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the digestive tract—the esophagus, stomach, colon, small and large bowel, gallbladder, and liver—and is conveniently located in North Raleigh, just off of Route 540. GastroIntestinal Healthcare has its own onsite licensed endoscopy center and is accredited and fully certified by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (Medicare), Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina.
