Angela Hampton Of ABC11 Serves As Culinary Contender At "Cooks For Books" Benefit Event In Garner

Celebrity Cookoff Benefits Garner Educational Foundation

RALEIGH, NC, March 04, 2011 (Press-News.org) ABC11 Eyewitness News (http://www.abc11.com) has announced that anchor Angela Hampton participated in "Cooks For Books," held Thursday, Feb. 10 at Garner TV & Appliance to benefit the Garner Educational Foundation (http://www.garnernc.gov/GEF/index.htm). Hampton joined Elise Johnson and Sharon Delaney of NBC-17, Brian Shrader of WRAL, Lisa Prince of the N.C. Department of Agriculture, and the head chef of Raleigh restaurant Gravy in a celebrity cookoff, emceed by Mark Roberts, formerly of WRAL.

Funds raised through this event will support the Foundation's literacy enrichment programming in the Garner area, including the Schools and Community Organized to Read volunteer reading program and the Garner Storytelling Festival. Hampton's team and two others created entrees for attendees to sample and vote for. Popular votes for an entree were sold at $1 apiece. Awards will be presented for the popular vote as well as an official judge's vote, coordinated by The Chef's Academy.
