Scottish Academy Installs New Electronic Security System

WEST YORKSHIRE, ENGLAND, March 06, 2011 (Press-News.org) Kings Security Systems ( http://www.kingsltd.co.uk ) was appointed to carry out a GBP200k installation at St Kentigern Academy Secondary School in Blackburn, West Lothian. This installation covered all aspects of the school's electronic security following the refurbishment of the teaching block.

The extension is a 3-storey structure and caters for over 1000 students with 230 staff. It took over 18 months to complete and was successfully carried out in 9 phases whilst the school remained open. The comprehensive planning and scheduling by Kings Security System ensured that security was not compromised during this complex build program.

Using Honeywell's latest and most powerful access control software WIN-PAK with Galaxy, the intruder alarm, disabled toilet facilities, access control, electro mechanical locking system, door automation, DDA video intercom and CCTV were all integrated into one single user interface

Special features of the installation were client specified including, meeting DDA requirements on electrical mechanical locking and the use of NVT equipment. Single Cat5 cable installations were used that can power fixed cameras up to 1.6km.

An advantage of this type of cabling infrastructure and transmission system is that it allows cables to be run through high voltage environments with no effect to image quality.
