Ian McCulloch of Echo and the Bunnymen has confirmed a solo show at the Gloucester Guildhall.

COTSWOLDS, ENGLAND, March 09, 2011 (Press-News.org) Ian McCulloch is set to make a rare solo appearance at the Gloucester Guildhall next month.

The Liverpool-born singer, best known as the frontman of Echo and the Bunnymen, will play the venue on Friday April 15th.

His performance in Gloucester has been billed as a warm-up for his one-off show at London's Union Chapel the following night.

According to the organisers, members of the audience can expect to hear solo tracks, stripped-down versions of classic Bunnymen songs and a few of McCulloch's favourite cover versions.

Known for his powerful and distinctive voice, the 51-year-old has cited the likes of Leonard Cohen and David Bowie as key influences on his music.

McCulloch was famously described by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin as "the best singer ever".

His hits with the Bunnymen include The Cutter, The Killing Moon, Lips Like Sugar, Bring On the Dancing Horses and Nothing Lasts Forever.

Tickets for the Gloucester Guildhall show are priced at GBP20 plus booking fee. Doors will open at 19:30 BST.
