MILAN, ITALY, March 10, 2011 (Press-News.org) An exhibition of Giuseppe Archimboldo's work could be fun for fans of peculiar art, as the painter made a series of portraits using images of fruit and vegetables.
The show will be on display until May 22nd at the Palazzo Reale, with tickets priced at EUR9 (GBP7.75).
Archimboldo is an unforgettable part of the country's creative history with his bizarre yet popular pieces.
Oddly, his maverick style was embraced by royalty, with the 16th-century Italian artist creating portraits of many famous figures using his singular technique.
Travellers in Milan can see more than 300 pieces of artwork that explore his career and investigate a few of the mysteries surrounding his life.
His influence can be seen in 20th century pieces by surrealists such as Salvador Dali.
Visitors can view the installation between 09:30 and 17:30 local time daily, except for Monday when it opens at the later time of 14:30. The exhibition closes at 22:30 on Thursday and Saturday.
