WIPP Board of Directors Member Gloria Larkin Attended Briefing from the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship

Gloria Larkin joins National Leaders for Senate Briefings on Women's Procurement program and Access to Capital

2011-03-10
WASHINGTON, DC, March 10, 2011 (Press-News.org) This week Gloria Larkin, a member of Women Impacting Public Policy's (WIPP) Board of Directors, attended special briefings from the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship and the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank).

"These meetings provide valuable insight and dialogue for the members of our board of directors on important business policy," said WIPP President Barbara Kasoff. "We're thankful to both the Chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Senator Mary Landrieu and Ex-Im Bank for their continued support of women-owned businesses."

"WIPP leadership and our members have worked tirelessly to finally implement the Women's Procurement Rule" said Gloria Larkin, President of TargetGov. "This rule means over $20 billion in contract opportunities for women-owned business throughout the U.S. We have the seat at the table, now it will be critical for access to capital to fund the contracts."

Senate staff met with WIPP board members to discuss implementation and support of the newly enacted women-owned small business procurement program and access to capital issues. Larkin and other WIPP board members also met with Diane Farrell, a member of Ex-Im Bank's Board of Directors, and Charles Tansey, Sr. Vice President of Small Business. Ex-Im Bank is the official export credit agency of the U.S. Its mission is to assist in financing the export of U.S. goods and services to international markets. Ms. Farrell and Mr. Tansey discussed small business policy initiatives at Ex-Im Bank, and how those policies affect women-owned businesses.
