Miles For Hope, Inc. Brain Tumor Walk Raises Awareness and Funding for Life-Saving Brain Tumor Vaccines at UCLA

CLEARWATER, FL, March 12, 2011 (Press-News.org) Miles For Hope, Inc. will be hosting Moving Towards a Cure Brain Tumor Awareness Walk on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, CA. Approximately 400 supporters are registered to participate in the walk. Partial proceeds will go to the clinical trial vaccine for brain tumors at the Unversity of California - Los Angeles (UCLA)

"We hold this awareness walk in 11 cities across the country," says Robert Gibbs, founder of Miles for Hope, Inc. and a brain tumor survivor. "These events allow us to fund clinical trials like the UCLA brain tumor vaccine." The vaccine, called "Optimizing Dendritic Cell Vaccination for Glioma Patients," activates the immune system to attack the bad tumor cells.

Miles for Hope is a non-profit organization dedicated to funding brain tumor research, raising awareness of brain tumors and providing travel assistance to brain tumor patients. Local notables include the 104.3 MY FM street team Brent "B" Woods and Tyray Fowlks as Masters of Ceremonies. TAIKO drum ensemble from Crespi Carmelite High School will provide the entertainment; interviews from survivors & supporters available upon request.

Moving Towards A Cure Los Angeles 2011 walk serves as part of the national fundraising movement for Miles For Hope. The event is open to all ages; $25 registration fee for adults, free for children under 12 years

The walk takes place at Woodley Park (adjacent to Lake Balboa Park), 6335 Woodley Avenue, Van Nuys, CA 91406; Parking available between Orange Line Busway & Densmore Avenue

The walk is on Sunday, March 13, 2011; registration from 8-9 AM, Walk/Run and Activities from 9 AM - 12PM; awards ceremony and remembrance of brain tumor patients to follow walk
