Urban Public Relations Learned How The Recession Is Effecting the Nation's Capital.

We Are In A Major Crisis and It's Happening In Our Own Back Yard.

WASHINGTON, DC, March 14, 2011

Urban Public Relations had the pleasure of meeting a young man, Clive, who is trying to save his family from homelessness. He started a blog, landed a job after two years of searching and is trying to keep his family and disabled mother in a safe environment.

Here is his story.

CLIVE'S STORY
My name is Clive and I am a 21 year old living in the nations capitol. My life is dedicated to caring for my disabled mum and navigating us around the cliffs of this mountainous recession against all odds.

On the bright side I've finally landed a job. March 15th will be my first official day at as the cashier at an organic catering company/cafe here in Washington, DC. I'll ultimately be able to manage the living expenses of our cozy one-bedroom apartment.

I often take on the responsibilities of my father. My childhood was unconventional. My mother suffers from a rare spine disease. She has required my daily help from the age of 4. It has change the dynamics of my life drastically.

TODAY'S ECONOMIC CLIMATE
Previously, we were able to make ends meet. Due to the economic climate, our rent, utilities and general living expenses have increased.

This escalation has not been matched by the assistance given to my mother for her disability. We still have the same income but life has inflated around us. So, I searched and searched for a job to bridge the gap between our income and our expenses.

I've finally become employed. It doesn't pay much but it will certainly help us in our quest to survive this economy.

I NEED YOUR HELP
We are facing imminent eviction. I want us to get over this hump. If we can manage this month's rent and expenses, my income will meet the needs of our family moving forward.

We need $861.00. Otherwise, we will be homeless and I will ultimately lose my job. (You can't have a job in Washington, DC without an official address). I am not used to begging or asking for assistance. I have taken care of my mother for over 15 years. I worked for satellite television companies, on construction sites and for cleaning services all before the age of 13.

I need your help. If you are suffering from the recession yourself, I pray for your recovery.

If you have a $1 to spare, please consider helping me get over my family's hump. I promise to pass it on and update as to my progress. I have a paypal account into which you can easily and securely deposit $1 (That's only 10 DIMES).

Thank you for for reading my blog/website. Thank you for understanding. Thank you for your prayers. And most importantly, thank you for your support.
