LateRooms.com - Eurovision Star Lena Set for Berlin Performance

Germany's Eurovision winner Lena will perform at the O2 World in Berlin on April 13th.

2011-03-19
BERLIN, GERMANY, March 19, 2011 (Press-News.org) Lena Meyer-Landrut, the darling of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, is due to appear in Berlin next month.

Fans of the 19-year-old singer can see her perform live at the German capital's O2 World on Wednesday April 13th.

Known simply as Lena, the vocalist has become one of the biggest pop stars in her native country since clinching Germany's first Eurovision victory since 1982 in Oslo last year.

Her song Satellite received a total of 246 points in the Norwegian capital, beating Turkey's second-placed entry by a margin of 76.

Composed by American Julie Frost and Danish songwriter John Gordon, the track debuted at number one on the German singles chart and also become the country's fastest selling digital release of all time.

Lena unveiled her debut album My Cassette Player in May 2010. As well as Satellite, the LP features cover versions of songs by Adele, Jason Mraz and Ellie Goulding.

The album proved to be another number one success for the vocalist and has been certified five times gold.

Due to the whirlwind nature of her rise to fame, Lena could have been forgiven for choosing to retreat from the spotlight for a while.

However, February 2011 saw the release of her second album Good News, which features 12 new songs.

Later that month, the teenage star was selected to represent Germany once more at this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

She will perform the song Taken by a Stranger at the event in Dusseldorf on Saturday May 14th.

People hoping to get a preview of Lena's latest Eurovision effort can attend her Berlin concert, with tickets priced between EUR42.30 and EUR50.35 (GBP36.70 and GBP43.70). The show is due to begin at 20:00 local time.
