DOYLESTOWN, PA, March 30, 2011 (Press-News.org) Jordan B. Yeager, an employment, land use and municipal law partner with Bucks County Regional law firm Curtin & Heefner LLP, presented at the Delaware Riverkeeper Network's Translating the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) Draft Gas Rules Workshop in February 2011.
Yeager addressed "Understanding the Need for Regulation" with Delaware Riverkeeper Network Senior Attorney, Jane Davenport. Yeager, along with other workshop presenters, interpreted and identified areas of concern within the DRBC gas rulings, highlighted crucial issues involved with proposed gas drilling practices that need to be regulated, discussed how to effectively communicate with the DRBC about the rules, and explored why the DRBC is required to adopt the strictest of regulations with a goal of preventing pollution and avoiding degradation. Established in 1988 upon the appointment of the Delaware Riverkeeper, the Delaware Riverkeeper Network is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) membership organization. The organization's professional staff and volunteers work throughout the entire Delaware River Watershed including portions of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and New York. They provide environmental advocacy, volunteer monitoring programs, stream restoration projects and public education. In addition, Delaware Riverkeeper Network goes to court when necessary to ensure enforcement of environmental safety laws.
Yeager focuses his practice on employment, land use and municipal law as well as federal civil rights litigation. He has served as Solicitor and Special Counsel to municipal governments, with an emphasis on labor, employment, zoning, land use and civil rights litigation. He represents public and private sector employers and employees in all aspects of labor and employment law, including counseling, negotiations, arbitration, litigation, trials and appeals. Yeager also advises municipal governments, community associations, non-profits and individual property owners in connection with land use and environmental matters, including issues relating to gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale formation. Yeager litigates zoning, DEP permits, and environmental claims in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. Prior to joining Curtin & Heefner, Yeager was in private practice with his own public interest law firm, Boockvar & Yeager.
Recently appointed to several leadership positions with organizations in the Philadelphia area, Yeager serves on the Board of Directors of the Cornell Club of Greater Philadelphia and the Agricultural Security Advisory Council of Doylestown Township, Pa. He also serves as Solicitor to the Morrisville Borough Zoning Hearing Board, as Solicitor to Nockamixon Township, as Labor Counsel to Falls Township, Pa., and as Solicitor to the Bucks County Democratic Committee. He has served as legal counsel to the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, as well as numerous federal, state and local campaigns.
