NOVI, MI, April 02, 2011 (Press-News.org) Preh, a leading supplier of automotive driver controls, sensors and electronic control units, is supplying the multifunction steering wheel switches for the new Audi A6. For Preh, it is the third contract from Audi for steering wheel switches, as the company already supplies the models A8 and A1.
For a comfortable option selection, the steering wheel multifunction switches have a scroll switch with a confirmation push function. Additionally, gears can be selected easily with the index or middle fingers using Preh's unique switch-paddles, placed behind the steering wheel spokes.
Preh has developed and manufactured numerous steering wheel switches for various car brands and commercial vehicles. One of the engineering challenges for multifunctional switches in the steering wheel is to develop a packaging with integrated electronics that fits the limited available space, while ensuring excellent haptic feel and a high surface quality.
Preh, Inc. President Nick Lontscharitsch says, "Our company is known for a high degree of vertical integration. All competencies for the development and manufacturing of complete switch modules are available in-house, from electronics manufacturing to tooling, plastic injection molding, painting, laser-etching and assembly. This makes us very flexible. Therefore, we can react fast when our customers request specific changes."
About Preh
Preh is a globally operating enterprise with about 2,500 employees in Germany, Portugal, Mexico, the U.S.A., Romania and China. Preh is headquartered in Bad Neustadt a.d. Saale, Germany. 'Much of memory research involves repetitive, rote learning,' says Kelly Ludmer, a research student in the group of Prof. Yadin Dudai of the Institute's Neurobiology Department, 'but in fact, we regularly absorb large blocks of information in the blink of an eye and remember things quite well from single events. ...
