LOS ANGELES, CA, April 04, 2011 (Press-News.org) Preparing and paying taxes can be confusing and expensive. Better put, the process can be downright intimidating! This is often the reason people push it off as long as possible. And once one year passes without filing, it becomes more difficult to talk yourself into filing the next.
This is what happened to Cary (Orlando, FL) who hadn't filed a tax return in six years when he came to Blue Tax's door. Frustrated, frightened, and overwhelmed, Cary was relieved to hear from the team at Blue Tax that his problem was not only common, but resolvable. They sat him down and got started.
The team of experts at Blue Tax knew the best course of action was to bring Cary into compliance with the IRS so that they then could work on getting him on a payment plan that not only the IRS would accept, but more importantly, also made sense to Cary's budget and income.
With Cary's help, in less than two months, Blue Tax had filed tax returns for him for the missing six years. Once submitted, it took the IRS over six months to process the paperwork. Because part of the Blue Tax approach involves constant follow up, they were able to determine immediately when the IRS mistakenly misplaced some of Cary's paperwork. Blue Tax was able to quickly resend what was lost and the process never skipped a beat. During that period of time, the Blue Tax team also prepared the client's financial analysis to reflect his ability to pay his debt back.
The client's balances, once posted at the IRS, showed an outstanding debt of over $39,000. This figure was over the IRS streamline limit so the team had to present Cary's previously prepared financial analysis to effectively negotiate a payment plan for him. Because his analysis showed him upside down on his monthly expenses, Blue Tax was able to prove to the IRS that the client could not pay this debt balance. Blue Tax successfully negotiated for him to be on a Currently Non Collectible status for over $39,000 worth of debt so that he would not be required to write a check for this lump sum at one time. Cary further explained to the Blue Tax team that he wanted to try to negotiate an Offer In Compromise so the office prepared all the OIC paperwork and has submitted his package to the IRS. Cary and Blue Tax are currently awaiting a response from the IRS with high hopes for a positive outcome!
