LateRooms.com - See Billy Budd at the Dusseldorf Opera House

The final performance of Billy Budd by the Deutsche Oper am Rhein will take place in Dusseldorf on April 24th.

2011-04-06
DUSSELDORF, GERMANY, April 06, 2011 (Press-News.org) People hoping to catch the Deutsche Oper am Rhein's production of Billy Budd have until Sunday April 24th, when the final show will take place in Dusseldorf.

Written by Benjamin Britten in 1951, Billy Budd is an opera in four acts with a libretto by EM Forster and Eric Crozier.

It was based on an unfinished novella by American writer Herman Melville and tells the story of a young seaman who is pressed into duty on board the HMW Indomitable.

Wrongly accused of conspiracy to munity by the ship's hostile Master-at-Arms John Claggart, Billy is unable to verbally defend himself against the claims due to a speech impediment.

He resorts to striking Claggart in frustration and accidentally kills him, sparking a tragic chain of events that the vessel's honest and thoughtful Captain Edward Fairfax Vere is powerless to stop.

The Deutsche Oper am Rhein's version at the Dusseldorf Opera House features Lauri Vasar in the title role, Raymond Very as Captain Vere and Sami Luttinen as John Claggart.

Performed in English with German subtitles, the April 24th show will begin at 18:30 local time and last for about two hours and 30 minutes, including one interval.

Tickets for the production are available to reserve online, priced between EUR14.50 and EUR67.50 (GBP12.80 and GBP59.60) plus booking fee.

Opera fans planning to reserve a Dusseldorf hotel can find a diverse range of accommodation at LateRooms.com, which recommends the Relexa Hotel Ratingen City.

Arizona Legislature Considers Limiting Penalties for DUI

2011-04-06
Most of the time when legislators propose changes to the existing DUI laws, they are planning to increase the penalties. Making the punishments for DUI harsher is an easy way to appear tough on crime, and few people are willing to speak up for the interests of those who have been accused of drunk driving. However, some Arizona state legislators are taking a different approach. Sen. Linda Gray, who has worked for more than a decade to increase the penalties for DUI, has proposed a bill that would reduce the penalties for first-time DUI offenders. A separate bill proposed ...
