DUBAI, UAE, April 06, 2011
ProArt Gallery announced that their exhibition titled 'Street Art Without Borders', being held at the Palm Strip Shopping Mall in Jumeirah from March 9th- April 7th 2011, is receiving a tremendous response from the region's leading art collectors and connoisseurs, who are showing a keen interest in the urban art form. Over 12 international street artists are showcasing their work and keeping visitors enthralled with demonstrations of their talent.Speaking on the exhibition, Ms. Tatiana Faure, Director, ProArt Gallery, says, "Street Art is considered a nuisance by some and for others it is a tool for communicating their views or expressing political concerns. Whether it is regarded as vandalism or public art, street art has captivated the art world and its lovers of beauty. Our 'Street Art Without Borders' exhibition is a testament of this as we have received an excellent response with local art collectors and art lovers showing keen interest in street art."
This is the first time that Dubai has had the opportunity to view such a diverse collection of street artworks from around the world. The exhibition features works by celebrated and enigmatic graffiti artists Banksy, American Richard Mirando aka Seen often referred to as the "Godfather of Graffiti", Los Angeles based French artist Thierry Guetta aka Mr Brainwash, and Vitaly Rusakov aka Mizer the renowned Russian urban muralist.
Works by upcoming French artist Gwenael Salaun, have all the markings of a DJ's rhythmic mixing and sampling with images being distorted, juxtaposed and assimilated into a hazy blur of media, are also on display at ProArt Gallery.
Other artists include The London Police and Speedy Graphito. A New York based collective of artists Faile, Mau Mau, and Evil Dr Revolt are also showcasing their work at the exhibition. Local artist Saif B.Chilmiran has added an Emirati flavor to the international mix with select works.
"We commend ProArt for bringing in renowned global artists to their gallery at Palm Strip Shopping Mall. Their exhibitions give us a glimpse of coveted masterpieces, global cultures and different nuances of art. The 'Street Art Without Borders' exhibition, being the first of its kind in the region, was well received and has placed Palm Strip as the new trendy art destination in Dubai," says Mr. Deepak Chawla, Operations Manager at DIP.
