DAVID Systems Powers HDTV Channel with Audio-centric Playout for Red Bull Media House

Cost-effective and mission-critical playout solution from DAVID Systems was behind the launch of ServusTV

2010-09-10
MUNICH, GERMANY, September 10, 2010 (Press-News.org) ServusTV, a private TV broadcaster owned by Red Bull Media House GmbH and located in Salzburg, Austria, has chosen the DAVID Systems Broadcast Server (BCS) technology for SD and HD play-out of their audio-centric night program. The solution, delivered by DAVID Systems Austrian partner X-Art Pro Division, also includes software for ingest, transcoding and browsing of video material and is fully integrated in ServusTV's production environment.

For their TV night automation, ServusTV wanted to combine Radio-like audio play-out with SD and HD visual content to improve the overall entertainment experience. DAVID Systems was able to offer the right solution in the form of their BCS play-out system. While audio is played out through one channel, an additional video channel delivers a sub-schedule along with multimedia material, such as still images or video. The system is also ready for playing out surround sound.

Automated import and transcoding of production material to enable low-res browsing is also provided by DAVID Systems' DigaTransferSystem.

"We were looking for a lean, smart and cost-effective solution for playing out SD and HD video content to enrich our music play-out during the night program" states Andreas Gall, CTO at Red Bull Media House GmbH. "DAVID Systems delivered the right mix of capabilities to not only meet our technical requirements but also to allow us to go on-air as planned".

"One of the main challenges was the seamless integration with the existing production environment", explains Christian Jentsch, Head of Services & Operations, Customer Solutions Group (CSG) at DAVID Systems.

The final solution was delivered by X-Art Pro Division, DAVID Systems' solutions partner for Austria.

DAVID Systems technology enables ServusTV to bring together audio and visual content in new ways and can also enable Radio broadcasters to leverage alternative channels like DMB or DVB and the Internet to turn their previously audio-only program into a compelling multimedia event.

To arrange a live demo with DAVID Systems at IBC, 10-14 Sept in Amsterdam, please visit us in hall 7 booth 7.G34 and also at the Microsoft booth in the Topaz Lounge. You are also invited to contact us at sales@davidsystems.com for more information and to schedule a meeting
