INDUSTRY, CA, April 10, 2011 (Press-News.org) In summer of 2010, Spohn Ranch was selected as the highest-ranking respondent to a request for proposals for the design/build of a state-of-the-art skatepark in The Dalles, Oregon.
After engaging in a thoughtful and collaborative design process with an integrated team of engineers, landscape architects and skatepark advocates, we emerged with a unique vision tailored towards the needs of The Dalles' skateboarding community. Overcoming unique site constraints with sustainable design methods, we integrated the skatepark within a designated footprint, as well with a master plan that is planned for the overall park.
Sure to become a recognizable icon of modern skatepark architecture, the final design features a wide diversity of terrain aimed at all styles and skill levels. With basalt rock incorporated into the heart of the skateable terrain, this park will remain a vibrant community space for generations to come.
Prior to mobilizing, all coping, steel edging and concrete screeds were fabricated by Spohn Ranch's professional metal workers in our state-of-the-art fabrication facility in Industry, California. With fingers crossed for dry weather, Spohn Ranch's dedicated team of professional skatepark builders will execute fine grading, rebar placement, formwork, concrete placement and shotcrete throughout the coming weeks.
Spohn Ranch is a nationally-recognized contractor specializing in the design and construction of cutting-edge skateable landscapes. Spohn Ranch's deep roots in skateboarding originate with the first X-Games in 1995, when they were hired by ESPN to design and build the competition courses. After launching skateboarding into the mainstream with the X-Games, Spohn Ranch has helped hundreds of communities across the globe achieve their skatepark dreams. Coaches see their role as motivators and strategists to blend their team into a functional unit. They often say that they teach the "basics" of the game, however, in most situations, "basics" means basic ...
