CARY, NC, April 13, 2011 (Press-News.org) Writers in the Triangle Area
Raleigh-Durham area writers can participate in a one-of-a-kind writing workshop. Instead of being given a word or an object as a writing prompt, the classroom will be diffused with different aromas that are shown to increase creativity. Writers will have about ten minutes to free write during each diffusion, sharing work is optional, and ways of evoking spontaneous creativity in future writing will be explored.
Using the Five Senses in Writing
Essential oils are used in aromatherapy to send certain messages to the brain, some aromas can also be used to motivate creativity. The workshop will be hosted by certified aroma therapist and owner of Nature's Pure Essentials, Sue Dwiggins, and Cary-based freelance writer and organizer of Triangle Writers, Tara Lynne Groth. Dwiggins researched which aromas affect creativity and formulated a special blend of oils, a "creativity potion," specifically for writers to enhance the art of writing. Studies reported just a year ago in The Telegraph have shown that scent is our most powerful sense, triggering memories and even re-creating emotions.
The workshop fee is $20 and includes a gift bag of essential oils products. Seating is limited. RSVPs can be made at http://www.taralynnegroth.com.
