EVANSTON, IL, April 13, 2011 (Press-News.org) Following the success of the Kick Polio out of Africa campaign, I Imagine Studio responded inventively once again to Rotary International's objective to create an interactive campaign for the This Close initiative. To further heighten global awareness of polio eradication, an interactive microsite has been created by IIS to enable people around the world to become part of the This Close campaign joining prominent leaders from major social spheres including entertainment, sports, philanthropy, science, and world leadership participating in the campaign.
"This online initiative is a true testimony of the power people have today to promote causes using online tools to help each other to live in dignity," said Alena Tsimis, I Imagine Studio's managing director.
Designed in the shape of a book, the application was inspired by the idea of making a pledge. http://www.thisclose.net allows visitors to add their faces and names to the campaign by customizing the This Close ads by selecting a silhouette, adding their picture and adjusting skin and background colors to their preference. Once customized, the individual ads can be shared via social networks, emailed or saved to participants' computers. Participants can also leaf through the interactive book to view a gallery of user-customized ads and comments of digital participants from around the globe in totality or by specific country or name.
"You can learn how actively your country is participating in the campaign by checking the Global Map that tracks online activity through the world to see where the most participation is taking place," said Olga Weiss, Creative Director of I Imagine Studio.
The This Close campaign commenced as a series of print advertisements featuring a group of world leaders, humanitarians and celebrities including Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Desmond Tutu, violinist Itzhak Perlman, Queen Noor of Jordan, actor Jackie Chan and Bill Gates to further public support of Rotary International's effort to eradicate polio. The campaign is a unique way to promote Rotary's End Polio Now campaign and its $200 Million Challenge (to match a $355 million polio eradication grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) and emphasize that Rotary is 99 percent toward its goal to eradicate this crippling disease. Together with its partners, including UNICEF, WHO and the CDC, and participation of the global community, Rotary International is aiming to achieve global solidarity in this crucial health effort and let people around the world reach out to one another via this shared pledge.
