LOS ANGELES, CA, April 13, 2011 (Press-News.org) Los Angeles based Latina designers Maria Leguizamon and Claudine Jakubowicz have been selected by Kickstarter, the largest digital funding platform for creative projects, to launch a fundraising campaign for their newest venture, Sugarpepper Panties.

Inspired by the love for the flare and flavors of South America, Venezuela born Jakubowicz and Colombia born Leguizamon, sought to create an underwear line committed to helping women feel empowered, confident and sexy through versatile style, seamless comfort and unsurpassed quality.

With each creation woven with spandex to the beat of the Latin culture, combined with advanced heating and precise laser cutting techniques, Sugarpepper Panties has already become a popular fixture since it's Kickstarter debut in March; attracting upwards of 70 backers and raising 52% of their funding goal of $8,500, which ends May 10.

Established in 2009, Kickstarter focuses on a range of creative projects brought by innovators and entrepreneurs needing to have a voice to showcase their ideas, while campaigning to raise funds to convert those ideas into reality.

"Our panties will be the perfect foundation to start your day feeling confident, beautiful and sexy, offering original fashion-forward pieces, without compromising comfort or style," stated Jakubowicz, who in addition to Sugarpepper Panties, is also a key art designer for major independent films.

"As Latinas, we embrace our curves and our femininity. We're devoted to helping women feel the same by enhancing the beautiful and natural shapes we all possess," added Leguizamon, who has been active in the world of fashion since her role as former 944 Magazine (national entertainment, lifestyle, fashion publication) Los Angeles City Director.

In order to fund the production of the underwear line, Jakubowicz and Leguizamon turned to Kickstarter for an 'all-or-nothing' campaign. The pledges will only be collected if their funding goal of $8,500 is met by the Tue., May 10 deadline.

Backers of Sugarpepper Panties receive a variety of rewards for pledging, beginning with $10 for a CD of a unique blend of Latin music, to $40 for two Sugarpepper Panties underwear, organic SP wash bag and special thank you on their website, and three Sugarpepper Panties of your choosing, with organic wash bag, limited edition salt and pepper shakers, special thank you on their website for pledges $100 or more.
