Henschool Home Schools Pets At Home Staff
Pets At Home staff receive poultry-keeping training from Henschool's Lesley Austin
BARKING, ENGLAND, September 11, 2010
As part of their commitment to continuing personal development, Pets At Home have enrolled a number of their staff in poultry keeping classes run by Henschool. The selected staff will learn the basics of handling, feeding and raising chickens in order to better inform and educate Pets At Home customers.Said Lesley Austin, owner of Henschool, "It is fantastic to see that poultry keeping is not only increasing in popularity, but that high street retailers are also taking pet care seriously. We at Henschool are thrilled to be working with Pets At Home to ensure their staff have the requisite knowledge to advise would-be poultry keepers accurately. Too often pet shops have been accused of being blase in their attitudes to animal aftercare, but this commitment to increasing staff knowledge shows that Pets At Home are working hard to change this perception."
Pets At Home are the UK's largest pet supplies retailer and are looking to expand their range of livestock and products into the poultry-keeping market. By having staff trained in hen welfare at Henschool, they aim to have the most educated staff on the subject.
Based in Suffolk, Henschool is a family-run business specialising in poultry keeping courses and related products. Henschool is the brainchild of Lesley Austin, a support coordinator for the Battery Hen Welfare Trust and veterinary nurse, who's life-long poultry rearing experience forms the basis of her hugely successful hen keeping courses.
