2011-04-15
MELVILLE, NY, April 15, 2011 (Press-News.org) The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) named Double D Contractors, Inc., in Hicksville, NY, 2011 National Contractor of the Year (CotY) in the Residential Kitchen $80,001 - $120,000.00 category of its annual awards competition.

Contractors from seven regions nationwide vie for the awards on an annual basis. All projects
submitted for judging were an improvement or an addition to an existing structure, with the exception of one category, "Residential Exterior Specialty." Otherwise, new construction projects were not eligible.

This winning project was a Platinum CotY winner for NYC/LI NARI, and a Region One winner for the category "Residential Kitchen $80,001 - $120,000.00." This project was in East Hills, NY and was designed as a Kosher kitchen with two distinct work areas. This design was intended so that both husband and wife could cook together. A beverage and snack area for the children helps keep uninvited traffic from the main work areas and even the family dog Bernie got his own area complete with a faucet so the children don't spill water all over the floor carrying the bowl from the sink.

Candlelight Cabinets were selected for their beauty and many available features, like double layered utensil drawers, roll out spice racks and seven step finishing process. NARI member Appliance World located in Huntington, NY assisted the client with the selection of the appliances and even with lessons on the special features. Another NARI member, Davis & Warshow assisted in the selection of the sinks and faucets.

In addition, competing projects were completed between July 1 of 2009 and November 30 of 2010 and were not submitted in prior NARI National contests. An impartial panel of judges who are experts within the industry and associated fields, selected winners based on each entrant's binders, which include "before and after" photography and project descriptions. Judging focused on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation.
