RENO, NV, April 15, 2011 (Press-News.org) ElectraTherm, a leader in small-scale heat to power generation, will present at the Defense Venture Catalyst Initiative (DeVenCI) workshop, hosted by the Department of Defense (DoD), on April 26, 2011. ElectraTherm is one of 32 companies, out of more than 150 nominations, selected to present on innovative commercial technologies to meet DoD needs.
ElectraTherm's Green Machine generates clean power by harnessing excess heat that would otherwise go to waste. ElectraTherm was nominated for participation by venture capital firm RockPort Capital, based on the DoD's interest in waste heat utilization, and ElectraTherm's position as a leader in small-scale heat to power generation. Rob Emrich, Vice President of Business Development, will speak to the DoD on ElectraTherm's patented technology to capture low-grade waste heat using the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) and generate fuel-free, emission free power.
"The DeVenCI workshop seeks companies with emerging commercial technologies that are cutting edge but at the same time proven, well in line with ElectraTherm's innovative product," said Emrich. "ElectraTherm's tremendous research and development efforts are paying off with a modular and robust machine that has installations and run time to show for it."
ElectraTherm's technology can convert sources of low-temperature heat from applications including reciprocating engine jacket water, biomass, concentrated solar, etc. into power. With 12 units in the field, ElectraTherm's Green Machine has accrued more than 8,000 hours of fleet run time -- more than 12,000 hours, including test cell operations.
ElectraTherm, Inc., provides heat to power generation systems to industry worldwide. The company's proven, patented Twin Screw Expander enables its line of recovered energy generating systems to make electricity from low to mid temperature heat that would otherwise go to waste. ElectraTherm's fuel-free, emission-free and low cost 'Green Machines' offer the industry's shortest payback period on investment.
