G Data Software Achieves Virus Bulletin's VB100 Award in Latest Comparative Review

G Data Antivirus 2011 Detects 100 Percent of In-the-Wild Viruses

2011-04-16
DURHAM, NC, April 16, 2011 (Press-News.org) G Data Software, one of the world's first antivirus providers, has achieved a VB100 award in the latest comparative review from Virus Bulletin, the leading specialist publication in the field of malware and spam. Virus Bulletin's approach is unique in that it carries out independent comparative testing of anti-virus products, does not allow re-testing and reports performances exactly as they are found. In its reviews, Virus Bulletin looks at a product's scanning speeds, RAM and CPU consumption, impact on standard activities and detection rates.

Virus Bulletin's April 2011 comparative review looked at how antivirus programs detected malware on the Windows XP SP3 platform. For this VB100 test bench, the lab team tested 69 products including G Data Antivirus 2011. G Data Antivirus 2011 detected 100 percent of the WildList, 99.88 percent of worms and bots, 100 percent of polymorphic viruses and 99.52 percent of trojans, outperforming several competitive products. According to the review, its detection rates were uniformly excellent, the WildList was demolished in short order and excessive sluggishness was avoided with the product's dual-engine approach. G Data Antivirus 2011 received the award for detecting 100 percent of the In-the-Wild (ItW) viruses without a false positive.

"Virus Bulletin's certification methods are widely recognized and respected by both the security industry and consumers" said Ed Johnson, Senior Vice President, G Data Software. "The detection of WildList malware is key to consumers as these are the most notorious threats currently active, so any antivirus product needs to catch as many of these as possible."
