HOUSTON, TX, September 12, 2010 (Press-News.org) Rigid Building Systems, Houston manufacturer of steel buildings, averaged only 3.0 workplace injuries per 100 employees in 2009, down from 5.5 in 2008. The most recent numbers on workplace injuries and illnesses available from the Bureau of Labor Statistics is for 2008. Per these figures, the national incident rate in 2008 for fabricated metal product manufacturing was 6.8 per 100.
"We are delighted that our safety measures are paying off in fewer injuries to our employees", boasts Steve Olson, VP of Sales/Marketing for Rigid. "We will continue to strive for a 100 percent injury free workplace".
Rigid attributes part of the increased level of safety in their steel buildings plants to their safety awareness poster contest. Rigid recently sponsored their 2nd Annual Safety Poster Contest for employees and their families. Rigid uses these posters as tools to encourage, enhance and promote Rigid's safety program and culture. The winning posters are laminated, framed and hung at various locations throughout Rigid's steel buildings plants.
First, second and third place prizes of $50, $25 and $10 respectively were awarded to the best posters in three categories - employees, spouses and their children. Rigid congratulates its first place winners Afshin Saleh of the night shift manufacturing dept., Jim Boyd J. Ramos (spouse of Imelda T. Ramos of the production control dept.) and Nicole Dumlao (child of Nicolas Dumlao of the engineering dept.)
