Heart Patients Who Take Prostate Drugs at Higher Risk

Middle-age men who have prostate disease and heart diease are caught between a rock and a hard place when it comes to medication. Prostate massage is a centuries-old effective treatment for prostate disease that does not require drugs.

LOS ANGELES, CA, April 28, 2011

According to WebMD (http://men.webmd.com/features/6-top-health-threats-men?page=3), the 6 top health threats for men include cardiovascular disease, erectile dysfunction (ED), lung cancer, prostate cancer, diabetes and depression. If a man has more than one condition—which is common as a man ages—he may have to choose which one to treat with drugs, at the risk of another.
For example, all prostate medications have some side effects, including fainting, difficulty breathing, and impotence. If a man has erectile dysfunction and diabetes or heart disease, taking medication for ED may put him at higher risk for other illnesses. About 80% of men will experience prostate disease in their lifetime.
The Men's Place, an L.A.-based men's health center, treats prostatitis (inflamed prostate) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate) without surgery or drugs. The center uses prostate massage and other techniques to reduce swelling, eliminate pain, frequent urination and other symptoms. In most cases, once the prostate is restored, ED is cured. Owner, Brenda Carol Green (aka "The Lioness") opened her center after a relative had a bad reaction to prostate medication.
"There is a large population of men with heart conditions, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes who cannot take prostate medications. These men are left more vulnerable to prostate disease. With proper prostate massage therapy they can be cured," she said.
Six studies by the FDA of prostate cancer patients who took prescribed prostate drugs showed an increased risk of diabetes or heart disease, as compared with patients receiving other prostate cancer therapies (http://www.reuters.com/article/2010/05/03/us-fda-prostate-idUSTRE6423G220100503). Research also links prostate cancer prevention drugs with heart failure (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36123806/ns/health-cancer).
