RALEIGH, NC, April 28, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Raleigh Finish Division of Horizon Forest Products, a top distributor of products for hardwood flooring contractors and custom cabinetmakers in the southeast, recently held its first Lenmar Training Class. Fifteen attendees, representing members of the company's cabinet shops and local manufacturers, attended the training session held on April 6th.
Lenmar (www.lenmar-coatings.com) provides wood coatings for furniture, cabinets, and flooring plus manufactures lacquers, pre-cats, and conversion varnishes for any wood finishing job. Lenmar floor systems have been used in the finest gymnasiums, arenas, homes, and commercial locations across the country.
Trevis Pierce, Horizon Forest Products Lacquer/Tint Specialist, and Steve Markowitz, Lenmar Technical Account Manager, led the training class which discussed the Lenmar product line along with suggested applications and technical data. Solvent performance and specialty finishing techniques were conducted both in the classroom and through hands-on training. Pierce said that given the success of the Finish Department's first training class, the division plans to host more classes—eventually giving two to four classes per year.
"Despite the varying levels of finishing knowledge and experience of our attendees, everyone seemed to have taken away something valuable from this class," says Pierce. "This class, and particularly the hands-on portion, will give our attendees the information they need in order to be more comfortable with the Lenmar product line, which will ultimately result in being better finishers".
Future topics for Horizon Forest Products training classes will include advancements in product lines and specific application techniques including multiple color coatings, glazes, and distressing.
