MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, April 29, 2011 (Press-News.org) Independent movie directors and extreme sports fanatics will show off their talents at the 2011 Cairns Adventure Film Festival (CAFF).
The event is now in its second year and features a broader scope than last year's edition, when it was known as the Cairns Adrenaline Film Festival.
Entrants will battle it out for prizes in a number of categories, including Caffeinated Adventures - pictures that last for six minutes or less - and Short Adventures in Nature, which run for fewer than ten minutes.
The People's Choice Mad Minutes section includes the shortest clips, lasting for between 30 seconds and two minutes. These films are typified by their rapid action and pumping soundtrack.
Longer movies appear in the Adventure Features category, with these pieces running for anything from 20 to 90 minutes. Entrants are encouraged to adopt documentary or fictional narrative styles, as long as there is plenty of action in their work.
A panel of judges will pick out the best films to be screened at the CAFF main event and awards night on May 28th.
Proceedings are due to run from 14:00 to 00:00 local time at local bungee jumping spot AJ Hackett.
Adrenaline junkies looking for Cairns hotels can visit LateRooms.com.au and choose from a wide array of last minute hotel deals in the city.
