MADRID, SPAIN, May 01, 2011 (Press-News.org) The PROTOS 2010 Verdejo continues to win over the palates of the most demanding consumers and has done it again by being the only verdejo to win an award in the fourth edition of the "Wine and Women Contest" a prize established by the Business Institute's Open Classroom of Wine. This unique competition honours women's contributions to the wine industry.
After an extensive evaluation, due to the high quality of the more than 100 wines entered into the contest, the jury, led by Julia del Castillo, awarded the PROTOS 2010 VERDEJO with the Diamond Prize in the category of "white wines produced without wood." This prize has particular value for PROTOS, as the company's team of oenologists is predominantly female, a pillar of the company's current business practices which it expects to continue in the future.
As well as being the only verdejo to win a prize in the contest, with this award, the PROTOS 2010 VERDEJO'S place as one of the wines most preferred by women is ensured. This white wine is produced using Bodegas Protos' latest technology, but without sacrificing tradition, which has made the company the benchmark for both D.O. Rueda wines and wine tourism in the Ribera del Duero region.
Protos
The PROTOS cellars are located in La Seca. The traditional Spanish-style facilities include stainless steel racks, a bottling plant and an area for fermentation in casks, with capabilities that surpass even the strictest current requirements. Protos D.O. Rueda exclusively produces Verdejo wine, guaranteeing its exceptional quality, where tradition is blended with cutting-edge technology. Protos' white wines are destined to become the benchmark of D.O. Rueda wines, following in the footsteps of our renowned Ribera del Duero wines.
