Ulster County's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (UCSPCA) has been named the May 2011 beneficiary for Rescue Chocolate, the vegan chocolate company which donates 100% of its profits to various animal rescue organizations.

BROOKLYN, NY, May 04, 2011 (Press-News.org) Ulster County's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (UCSPCA) has been named the May 2011 beneficiary for Rescue Chocolate, the vegan chocolate company which donates 100% of its profits to various animal rescue organizations.

UCSPCA runs an independent no-kill shelter. This means that the homeless animals who find their way into the sanctuary are allowed to live out their natural lives, whether or not they ever get adopted.

In addition to finding adoptive homes for homeless, abused, and neglected animals, the group's mission is to conduct cruelty investigations, provide low-cost spay/neuter services, offer humane education, and work to improve laws to end animal cruelty.

To raise the funds to support all of those aims, UCSPCA engages in a number of annual fundraising efforts, including its popular Fur Ball, Garden Party at the Shelter, and Golf Outing golf tournament. It also operates the Happy Paws thrift store.

But this is the first time that chocolate has been added to the arsenal of fundraisers.

Rescue Chocolate offers a product line of kosher and vegan chocolate bars and truffles. Each flavor is named after an issue important in the animal rescue world. For example, there are bars called Peanut Butter Pit Bull, Pick Me! Pepper, Foster-iffic Peppermint, The Fix, and Mission Feral Fig.

The chocolate company was founded in January 2010. Products are sold in retail outlets around the country as well as online (www.RescueChocolate.com). For more information on UCSPCA, visit http://USPCA.org.

Rescue Chocolate, the sweetest way to save a life! 100% of net proceeds go to animal rescue!
