BRISTOL, CT, September 14, 2010 (Press-News.org) ESPN, Inc. recently chose Bat Blue Corporation as the official WiFi provider for X Games 16 that was held July 30 - August 1 in Los Angeles. Bat Blue delivered a wireless network for the X Games to support the event staff, journalists and spectators. Bat Blue was responsible for providing WiFi access for up to 70,000 X Games fans and staff per day at two venues: the LA Memorial Coliseum and the LA LIVE facility which includes the STAPLES Center, Nokia Theatre and the X Fest area consisting of several downtown streets.
"Bat Blue and their WiFi technologies were chosen due to their extensive knowledge of wireless,networking and security, as well as their responsiveness to our needs," said Jon Jensen, ESPN's Director of Data Communications.
Bat Blue designed, implemented and managed the entire wired and wireless infrastructure which handled competition from more than 600 other WiFi networks in the coverage areas. Both the LA LIVE and the LA Coliseum locations were configured to function via two independent Bat Blue mNOCs (Mobile Network Operation Center) which were capable of operating, managing and monitoring its wired and wireless infrastructure for the entire X Games from each mNOC. Bat Blue's network supported up to 70,000 X Games fans, journalists, and staff at the two venues.
