Realcomm CEO Speaks at GSA/PBS Executive Client Summit Luncheon

Realcomm CEO at high-visibility GSA/PBS Executive Client Summit Luncheon hosted by Commissioner Robert Peck. Event attracted top federal real estate leaders.

CARLSBAD, CA, May 05, 2011

Realcomm Conference Group, LLC, chief executive officer Jim Young spoke at last week's Executive Client Summit Luncheon in Washington, DC, which was hosted by Robert Peck, Commissioner of Public Buildings for the US General Services Administration. The event brought top federal real estate leaders together to discuss challenges that all federal agencies are facing in the areas of asset management, sustainability and workplace planning.

Young joined Larry Melton, GSA Assistant Commissioner for Facilities Management and Harry Mahar, Director of the Bureau of Administration at the Department of State, on a panel titled "Future of Facilities" where the three addressed the Smart Buildings Program and how building technology continues to impact the way buildings are designed, leased, managed, operated and used. Currently, the Smart Buildings Program is active on 30 construction projects, and refining plans to leverage technology to improve operations on an initial 50 existing buildings. All of these buildings will utilize a low-cost, high value approach that uses "softer" solutions such as software, data analysis and new operational methods to get similar or better results than more costly equipment.

Over the past 18 months, GSA has forged a partnership with Realcomm and as Melton stated during the event, "Realcomm has made a significant difference in the way we have taken the direction of the government facilities initiatives. Jim Young and his organization have provided invaluable knowledge, expertise and a direct link to the top corporate and commercial real estate organizations through their high-level educational events and strong industry relationships."

To continue the dialogue, Peck, Melton and Phil Klokis, PBS CIO, will keynote at Realcomm's 2011 Annual Energy Summit, which will be held on June 15 in Orlando, FL.
