LARCHMONT, NY, May 13, 2011 (Press-News.org) While the Cropsey oils are expected to be the May 15th highlight, the auction will consist of over 450 lots consigned from estates in the greater New York area including Brooklyn Heights, the West Village, West End Avenue, Riverdale, Larchmont, Rye, Scarsdale and Greenwich CT.
Other fine art in this auction are works by Jerome Myers, Hermann Herzog, William Zorach, Kruseman Van Elten, Leonard Ochtman, Thomas R George, Theo Ribot, an oil after Adolph Schreyer, and Andre Albertin; a estate collection of 19th C. British and Continental oils including George Hepper, E.H. Boddington, and Eugene Courteille; and collections of signed prints including John Rhoden, Jean Dufy, Jean-Michel Folon, Marion Greenwood, and George Chemeche.
Decorative Arts include Art Deco vases by Roger Guerin and Louis Paul Mergier; Meissen figurines, an antique gilt bronze and enameled picture frame in the style of Faberge with a signed photograph of an early 20th Century luminary, a Eduard Stellmacher porcelain bust, a Black Forest box, Royal Bayreuth china, Rose Quartz Falcon and a Crystal Quartz Parrot, and pairs of large marble and alabaster obelisks.
Also featured in this auction is a large estate jewelry collection including Italian micro mosaic pieces and diamond, pearl, and coral in gold rings, bracelets, brooches and necklaces.
Exceptional antique and traditional furniture examples are period American Empire antiques from Brooklyn Heights; a 19th Cent Burlwood Secretary Bookcase, a 19th Cent mahogany console with gilt claw feet; a collection of 19th C. French pieces including a marbletop and ormolu mounted commode, a vitrine, and a center table; and a collection of 18th century Continental pieces including a painted decorated commode, a pair of paint decorated consoles, and a French provincial server. In addition, a pair of green leather club chairs and a green leather Chesterfield sofa will be sold May 15th.
Carpets include an antique Sarouk, an antique Kerman, Art Deco Chinese, a Turkish Sivas, and other handmade examples.
Midcentury Modern design by Charles Eames, Sori Yanagi, a pair of Dunbar Janus armchairs, a pair of "pretzel" chairs, a Knoll walnut table, a possibly Parzinger marbletop end table, a Sibast dining table and chairs, and other rosewood and teak pieces will also be sold May 15th.
Sterling and silver highlights are a 1880 heavily chased Gorham tea service, an ornate chased Gorham tureen, a pair of Gorham midcentury "Celeste" candelabra, large sets of sterling flatware, and a pair of Persian candelabra marked 84 Vartan.
Chinese antiques include a five piece enameled garniture set from a Larchmont home, a pair of porcelain vases as lamps, a pair of large ivory figures, and a set of four rosewood plaques with jade decoration purchased as "The Four Seasons" from Sotheby's in 1962.
