PENNSAUKEN, NJ, May 13, 2011 (Press-News.org) Macro Sensors' (www.macrosensors.com ) MD 188 Series
Sub-miniature LVDT Position Sensor serves as a critical component of a probe within an ophthalmic ultrasound system used to image the eye and tissues around and behind the eye to determine the presence of pathology.
The Eye Cubed , manufactured by Ellex Innovative Imaging (www.ellex.com), a global leader in the design and manufacture of ophthalmic laser and ultrasound systems used by ophthalmologists to diagnose and treat eye disease, uses sound waves to penetrate into an "opaque media" eye for examination when doctors are prohibited from viewing pathology directly due to an opacity of the cornea, lens or the vitreous gel that fills the eye. The Eye Cubed is used in conjunction with CT or MRI for imaging orbital tumors, optic nerve abnormalities, and to locate 'foreign bodies' that get lodged in the eye or orbit from accidents.
Renowned for its unparalleled sensitivity and highest-quality image resolution, this diagnostic ophthalmic ultrasound technology features real-time imaging, advanced movie mode using the fastest sampling rate, and internal memory for storage of measurements. The ophthalmic ultrasound sector probe of the
Eye Cubed utilizes one Macro Sensors MD 188 Series LVDT Linear Position Transducer to send a signal to the console that allows the ultrasound image to be accurately displayed on screen. The ultrasound transducer is moved back and forth by a motor to send an array of sound beams into the eye. While miniature in size to fit into the probe, the LVDT position sensor is very dependable, operating over millions of cycles without wear or signal quality degradation. Ultra-low-mass cores allow use for high response dynamic measurements.
While axial resolution is determined by transducer frequency, lateral resolution is solely determined by LVDT quality and the system's ability to translate that position information into the proper display of echoes on the screen. This is most critical in the measurement of ocular tumors, since the lateral and axial measurements are used by radiation oncologists to calculate the amount of radiation delivered to the tumor. Incorrect lateral measurements could result in improper radiation dosage and direction, causing life-threatening problems if the entire tumor is not treated.

Record Foreclosures in Massachusetts Spared Due to "Right-to-Cure" Law
Lenders foreclosed on 12,233 homes in Massachusetts in 2010, only 197 less than during the record-setting mortgage crisis of 2008. That record likely would have been topped if not for emergency legislation that passed in August of last year. An Act Relative To Mortgage Foreclosures, more commonly known as the "right-to-cure" law, extended the timeframe a Massachusetts homeowner has to pay back late mortgage payments to 150 days. Previously borrowers had 90 days to become current ...

How to Approach an IRS Audit or Collection Letter
A common first reaction to an Internal Revenue Service audit or collection letter is panic, followed closely by frustration. However, it is important that you read the letter carefully and respond in a timely way. The IRS will let you know the reason for the audit or collection notice in the letter. The sooner you act, the sooner it can be resolved, reducing potential interest and penalties you owe.
You Are About to be Audited. Now What?
The IRS audits taxpayers with discrepancies on their returns, if they've audited ...

Increase in Pedestrian Deaths in 2010 a Reversal from Trend
Amid lowered overall deaths from car accidents in 2010, a surprising preliminary report by the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) found a small increase in pedestrian fatalities for the first half of 2010. From 2006 to 2009 pedestrian deaths had decreased every year.
The report found no one, clear reason as to the sudden increase in pedestrian fatalities. However, the GHSA report speculated that increased distracted driving might have contributed to the startling rise in pedestrian deaths. Distracted ...

Roy Rogers TV Cowboy Legend This Week at LiveAuctionTalk.com
2011-05-13
With cap pistols and stick horses kids like me in the 1950s did what we could to imitate TV western heroes like Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. Why not? Roy was the "King of Cowboys" and Dale Evans was his superstar wife and sidekick.
Separating fact from fiction didn't mean a lot. As far as I could tell, this cowboy and cowgirl were the stuff of legend.
The plot in these early cowboy shows was simple too. Lots of optimism and comedy. Plus, the good guys always won. Western television shows were made for kids. Ten-gallon hats, fringed Western wear, hand-tooled ...
