Masters of the BBQ, Get Ready, Set, Go.... To Newport Dunes For Father's Day!

Day of BBQ Fun, Live Music & Cardboard Boat Regatta -- June 18th

LONG BEACH, CA, May 14, 2011 (Press-News.org) It's almost a requisite quality for dads to be proficient at the BBQ. In homage to dear old dad, Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort is hosting its inaugural Father's Day on the Back Bay, a day of BBQ dining, beach activities, amateur BBQ contest, live music by a surf band and even a cardboard boat regatta on Saturday, June 18.

The day kicks off with a light BBQ lunch served from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Families are invited to participate in volleyball and horseshoe tournaments in the early hours followed by the cardboard boat regatta at 3 p.m. An entry fee of $50 per family (includes materials to build the craft) and a first prize of $500 will be awarded to the family whose boat goes the farthest. Evening festivities begin at 5 p.m. with all-you-can-eat BBQ prepared by 10 professional chefs followed by live entertainment from 7 - 9 p.m. The $25 fee ($15 for children 12 and under) includes food and entertainment.
