BOSTON, MA, May 14, 2011 (Press-News.org) Northeastern University College of Business Administration (CBA), a world leader in practice-based education, today announced that IBM has awarded scholarships for the College's online Master in Business Administration (MBA) program to 12 employees based in the Philippine Islands.
The scholarships are part of a global educational initiative by IBM that is targeted at professionals working in its Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) unit, IBM Global Process Services (IBM GPS). The opportunity will provide the participants with a solid foundation in all areas of business enterprise from the fundamentals of operations, finance and marketing, to strategic planning. Emphasis is placed on globalization and enterprise growth taught through case studies enhanced by insights of program faculty with real-world experience.
Northeastern University College of Business Administration's Dean Harry Lane remarked, "The Philippine Islands is the third country in which our online MBA has been launched with IBM Global Process Services. Supporting IBM's talent development objectives in this way is an important strategic activity for the College and reinforces our commitment to preparing students for success in the global environment."
The two-year MBA program is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Renowned for experiential education, the program combines e-learning best practices with state-of-the-art technology that enhances the educational experience.
IBM scholars will complete 17 courses using online course materials such as videos, presentations, simulations, individual and team assignments, case discussions and exams. These modules will be focused around strategic decision-making, creating and sustaining customer markets, and managing a global enterprise, among others. The 12 IBM professionals comprise a mixture of disciplinary backgrounds - from BPO operations, to Quality Management, to information technology and other related business fields.
